I hold a Master in Educational Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. In South Africa I am a registered educational psychologist, and am currently working on certification in Florida. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology, also from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Experience
I have experience with working with children with ADD/ADHD, Autism and Aspergers, Dyslexia, special needs and other learning difficulties, as this is my specialization. I also have over 5 years of tutoring experience, covering many subjects and ages. My tutoring approach is that every child can learn and be the best that they can be, provided with a calm, supportive and non-threatening learning environment. I believe it is important to not only transfer the knowledge they need to be successful in the classroom, but also to build their confidence and self-esteem in learning. I aim to provide lessons through a warm and empathetic student-tutor relationship. My style of tutoring is communicative and kind, yet firm when it is needed. I believe that education is the stepping stones to success and I care about each of my students and work hard to help them grow and succeed in their schooling and academic pursuits.
